Q2. What are the hosting services offered?

This modern hosting feature includes 250 MB space, 5 GB/month bandwidth, multiple ftp accounts, mySql databases, and many other modern features. It also includes mailing list services. Jamaat webmasters have full administrative priveleges over their domains through the CPanel interface.

TOP

Q3. What does it cost?

Cost is absolutely free to qualified users.

TOP

Q4. Who is a qualified user? Can individual users also get free hosting for their personal/business websites?

Services are only for use by jamaats, jamiats, mohallas, jamaat organizations (Shabab, Burhani Womenn's Association, etc), and madrasahs only.

Q5. Why do we need a website? What would we use it for?

A website can be used for posting news and events occuring within a specific jamaat, and announcements regarding matters of importance to the local comunity. Information on majilis, darees, and social events, news about masjid/markaz construction, sabaq, Shabab/Burhani Women's events, birth, death, and engagement/marriage announcements, and other such messages are also ideal. The website can host a telephone directory, list of businesses, and even promote classfied listings for members of the jamaat.

Jamaat organizations such as madrasas, shabab and so on can also have separate websites and home pages under the umbrella of the Jamaat. These sub-sites are useful for posting grades for classes, schedules, lists of projects, photo albums, etc.

Q6. What domain name or URL will the website have?

If a jamaat has already registered its own top-level domain, for example, tampajamaat.org, we will be glad to host it directly. However, if a jamaat does not have its own domain registered, we can assign the jamaat a subdomain under the jamaats.net domain. For example, Tampa jamaat's homme page would be accessed at: http://tampa.jamaats.net

We also have reserved use of attalim.net for madrasah organizations only, so for example madrasah in Tampa would be tampa.attalim.net. Also, if you prefer, the bohra.net domain and the jamaats.info domains are also available as you choose.

Remember, each Jamaat will have its own control panel and multiple ftp accounts to manage its website. For more details, please see the official CPanel tutorial at http://www.cpanel.net/docs/pdf/cpanel/ (PDF format).

Q7. Will the Mumineen.org Team create a website for us?

We are sorry to say that we cannot help you in this regard. There are multiple WYSIWYG html editors available to create static webpages such as NVU (http://nvu.com/), Dreamweaver and so on. These are simple to use html editors that can help you create static webpages.

We do have custom scripts for Salat timings, miqat calendar, etc that we provide to Jamaat sites to use, which we will assist you with however.

Q8. Do you support Microsoft Frontpage 2002 Server Extensions? Or PHP? or ASP?

We are running the latest build of CPanel, which includes support for FrontPage extensions. We do not support NT platform-specific programs such as VBScript and ASP, but most other functions related to web development are supported. We do provide PHP support.

Q9. What is acceptable website content?

The website must have a webmaster who is entrusted to screen the content that is posted on the site with the local Amil's raza. We have a strict policy against copied and un-attributed materials. The website of each Jamaat is its public face in the virtual world and much accuracy and details must be taken care of while posting any content on the site. Responsibility for content moderation is a responsibility that is accepted as a condition of obtaining the hosting space from the Mumineen.org Team, and the moderators are expected to ban any content with the following characteristics:

Jamaats are permitted and heavily encouranged to display Akhbar of Huzurala (TUS) from Mumineen.org via our rss feeds, in addition to the salaat timings and other tools we provide. The Mumineen.org Team will assist you in setting up these features.

If a jamaat website consistently violates these terms of use, the Mumineen.org Team reserves the right to temporarily suspend the account until a solution can be worked out.

Q10. I do not have a definite domain name yet. Can I sign up with you first then change my domain name later?

In case you do not have a domain we can provide you with a sub-domain on any or all of the following top-level domains: bohra.net, jamaats.net, and jamaats.info. If in the future you obtain your own domain name then you can point it to your existing website using CPanel. You can also add more websites/domains for other organizations within your jamaat using the same feature.

Q11. How do I request hosting list for my Jamaat or organization?

Please follow these steps:
  1. Obtain raza from your local Amilsaheb
  2. Send email to the Mumineen.org Team at webmaster (at) mumineen.org with the following information:
    • name of the city which will use the list (if the city has multiple mohallas in a city, such as Karachi and Bombay, then the subdivision should be specified, for example shabbirabad or badri-mahal). If you have already registered a domain for your Jamaat you can send the domain name itself
    • proof of raza from Amilsaheb
    • full name, titles, postal address, & phone/fax/email of all webmasters

The Mumineen.org Team will then setup the website and inform the requester when done, and choose an initial password for the account. The webmaster can then log in to cpanel and begin administrating the site, with the first step being to change the password. To access your CPanel use https://yourdomainname:2083 Example: https://tampa.jamaats.net:2083

Q12. How do I configure my existing domain to point to my account?

Login in to the customer panel at your domain registrar and update your domain with the new DNS.

Once the changes have been submitted, they should be able to resolve by their names within 24-72 hours.

TOP

Q13. I and/or other users are having trouble accessing my site, ie getting "Page not Found" errors.

The DNS will propagate faster in certain countries than others, as they are all dependent on settings over countless servers and ISPs. However, if the problem persists for more than 48 hrs, contact the Mumineen.org Team at webmaster (at) mumineen.org and let us know and we will try to help.

Q14. How do I access webmail?

To log on to your mail server use http://www.yourdomain/webmail or using the 2095 port. Example: http://tampa.jamaats.net/webmail or http://tampa.jamaats.net:2095.

TOP

Q15. How do I upload my webpages / files?

You will have complete ftp access to your account so that you can upload, download and edit your file. You can use any ftp client to upload your files to your web space, though we recommend FileZilla (http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/) for windows users. You can also use the Cpanel file manager to transfer / edit your files from within the Cpanel interface.

TOP

Q16. Will Mumineen.org perform backups of my data for me?
